Society of Professional Journalists hosts prom for CCIM students

Ball State University's chapter of Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) hosted a "second-chance" prom for students from the College of Communication, Information and Media. The dance took place in Ball Gym on April 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sophie Gordon, SPJ president, said the event was held "in an effort to unify the college." It also acted as a fundraiser so that SPJ can continue to host events similar to this one.

Different student organizations were in charge of booths during the prom. There were snack tables, carnival games and a photo booth. Attendees were able to vote on superlatives throughout the dance, and winners were announced at the end.

There were a few surprise winnings after all superlatives were announced when SPJ adviser, Colleen Steffen was crowned prom queen. Her husband, Ryan Sparrow joined her as prom king, and their daughter, Tommy was pronounced prom princess.
